BCA New York
One Madison Avenue
New York, New York

As part of the MetLife Tower Restoration, BCA designed new windows that were installed directly over the existing frames to encapsulate the asbestos-containing sealant located at the perimeter of the exisitng 1961 windows. Based on archival research, BCA determined that the original 1909 Tower windows were one-over-one double-hung windows, constructed of bronze. It was BCA’s intention that the installation of simulated double-hung replacement windows will help to evoke the Tower’s historic character by restoring the rhythm and scale of the original fenestration to its façades.
